This document outlines the steps required to set up a Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) offer using Monk. You can set up this offer using Monk's Free gift auto add or Free gift selection offers.

How to set it up?


To set up a BOGO offer, Go to Create New Offer > Go to Gifts, Shipping and Cart Goals > General Free Gifts > Custom build your offer > Display method as 'Auto add' or 'Manual Select'.


After creating the offer, you can set up the following types of BOGO :


Buy X, Get X


To give the customer the same product as a gift, set the trigger product to Product X in the eligibility rules, and use the same product as the offer item on Step 1, as shown below:



Please keep the setting 'Offer unviable-Remove gift from cart' disabled (under 'Auto Remove and cart refresh' setting in Step 1 of the offer set up), otherwise the product will keep getting removed from the cart as the system is not be able to differentiate between the trigger product and gift product when this setting is enabled. For more information about how the 'auto remove' setting works, please refer to this document.


Buy X, Get Y


To offer the customer a free product that is different from the trigger product, add Product X as the trigger in eligibility rules, and add Product Y as the gift product on Step 1, as shown below:



Frequently Asked Questions


1) How can I set it up so that customers receive multiple gift items when they increase the quantity of trigger products in their cart (Buy X, Get X / Buy 2X, Get 2X and so on)?


This can be done by enabling the setting 'Increase gifts with more purchases' from Step 1 of the offer set up as shown below. When this setting is enabled, you can configure offers to repeat automatically when multiple quantities of the trigger products are added.



2) Can I set up a BOGO offer using Cart Progress Bar?


No, BOGO offers can only be set up using the Free Gift Auto Add or Free gift Selection offers, without the banner/progress bar.


3) Can I set up BOGO offer on the product page?


Yes this can be done by setting up the Free gift selection offer on the product page. For example, if you want to set up a Buy X Get X offer, you can select the display method in step 1 of the offer set up as 'Product Page' and select the trigger and offer product as the same one as shown below.

Please be sure to add the 'Gift selection' app block on your theme's product page to ensure that the widget appears in case you are setting up a free gift selection offer.


4) Why does the page refresh once the free gift is added/removed ?


The page refreshes because the setting "Automatically refresh the page once the gift is added/removed" is enabled. For instant cart refresh, you can add a cart listener to your theme. Please refer to this document for more details. If you have a developer who can add the same, kindly do so.
