The 'Auto remove' setting, shown as 'Offer unviable-Remove gift from cart' is a setting specific to 'Gifts and Shipping' offer overview/funnels ( free gift auto add / free gift selection / progress bar ) created through the 'Gifts and shipping' offer section. In the document, we will be detailing the functionality of this setting and how it impacts the free gift offer once it is enabled/disabled. This setting can be found inside the funnel setup on Step 2.

How does this setting impact the funnel/offer setup?


When this setting is enabled, the free gift will be automatically removed from the cart if the customer doesn’t meet the eligibility rules set in Step 1 of the funnel. If disabled, the gift will remain in the cart at full price, and the customer can choose to remove it manually. Additionally, enabling this setting prevents customers from purchasing the gift products separately in your store. This is particularly useful when the free gift products are small samples or trial products, as it ensures customers can’t buy them individually.


For example, we have configured an offer where a customer gets a gift when cart value is greater than USD 100 (as per the eligibility rules set in Step 1). If the setting 'Offer unviable-Remove gift from cart' , which can be found in Step 2 of the funnel set up, is disabled and the customer removes products from the cart due to which the cart value now falls below USD 100, then the gift product will remain added in cart and will change to a full priced product. The customer will have to manually remove it from the cart if they wish to do so.

If this setting is enabled, and the eligibility rules are not met in the cart, then the free gift will be removed automatically. Also, if the customer tries to add additional quantity of free gift product to cart, it will also be auto removed.

1) If I keep the 'Offer unviable-Remove gift from cart' setting enabled in the funnel setup, the customers are not able to purchase the gift product alone. Is there any workaround?


Yes, in order to ensure that the gift product gets auto removed if the offer is ineligible and can be purchased separately, you can create a zero priced copy of the gift product and add it as the offer product (on step 2 of the funnel set up) to be displayed as the free gift.

2) Even though the 'Offer unviable-Remove gift from cart' setting is enabled, why is the free gift still not getting auto removed ?


This is because the setting 'Automatically refresh the page once the gift is added/removed' is disabled due to which the cart does not automatically update to display that the free gift has been removed.
