How to set up volume discount/bundles using Monk?

This is step-by-step guide on how you can offer discounts on the purchase of multiple quantities of the same product using Monk's Quantity Breaks/Volume Discount funnel. This funnel can be configured across a variety of rules and eligibility criteria and works seamlessly with your theme's product page. Bulk Discount offer motivates customers to buy more items, increasing your average order value. It also helps clear out inventory faster and improves cash flow, along with attracting bulk buyers and building customer loyalty.

Funnel Creation


Go to Create New Funnel on the top right of the funnel section in Monk > Create New Funnel > Cross-sell & product groups > Quantity/bulk discount



Under Quantity break/ volume discount, you'll find a variety of templates to choose from. If your offer structure aligns with one of these templates, you can proceed with it. If not, you also have the option to custom build your offer as shown below -


To offer bulk discount for specific product, please choose the option below and then click on next and set the offer name



Eligibility and Display


On step 1 of the funnel setup, select the eligibility rule as per your convenience. Please refer to this document for a detailed guide on eligibility rules



You can also schedule the funnel for a specific date range from Step 1 of the funnel set up, using this setting below -


Product and Display


On Step 2, select the quantity option of the product that you want to display inside the bulk discount widget. You can also add a discount to which can be shown either as % off or flat off.


Advanced Configuration


Under Step 2 , you have the following settings with respect to displaying the Bulk Discount funnel -



Redirection


  • After clicking on "Add," the customer will be redirected to the cart page - If this setting is enabled, the customer will be redirected to the cart once they click 'Add to cart'. If disabled, they will stay on the product page and will have to manually go to the cart page.


Price and Discounts


  • Apply discount only if customer avails all quantities of the same product variant - If this setting is enabled, the discount will be applied only when the quantities have the same variant of the trigger product. For example - Offer is set for 10% off on buying 2 quantities of X product and 15% off on buying 3 quantities of the same product. With this setting enabled, if the customer buys two products of same size L and another size M, then the 10% discount will be applied on 2 quantities on only variant L and not 15 % off because they have selected different variants.


Display Settings


  • Display option to select variants of the product from inside the widget - With this setting enabled, a separate variant selector will be added inside the widget. If this setting is disabled, the default variant of the product will be selected. The default variant of the product is selected from Shopify’s product section, whichever variant is on top of the variant list is considered as the default variant.


  • Show summary and total of all the products' prices - The total price summary on adding different quantities of the product will be displayed inside the widget if this setting is enabled.


  • Show a quantity option selected by default - With this setting enabled, there will be a quantity option pre-selected that the customers can simply add to cart. You can also add the quantity option number that you want display as the default selection within the widget as well under this setting.


Auto Remove and cart refresh


  • Automatically refresh the page once the product is added - If this setting is enabled, the app will automatically refresh the entire page to show the updated cart when an offer product from the bulk discount widget is added or removed. However, if you do not want the entire page to refresh and still show the updated cart please check with your team/theme support whether your theme has a cart listener or not. Alternatively, you can contact us via live chat/email support and we will add it in for you. Once you have the cart listener, this setting can be disabled and the offer product will automatically appear in the cart without having to refresh the whole page. Content and Display


Step 3 of the funnel setup is where you can change and/or translate the text of the bulk discount widget as per your requirements.


Advanced display settings


  • Show a separate ‘Add’ button inside the widget - There will be a separate 'Add to Cart' button inside in the volume discount widget when this setting is enabled. If disabled, Monk will use your theme's native 'Add to Cart' button. We recommend enabling this setting only if you're positioning the volume discount widget below the main product page add to cart.


Clicking on 'Edit Display and Design' will open the global editing options of the widget including elements like font, colors, spacing of the widget for both mobile and desktop view. You can also edit the exact offer offer body configurations like the text styles, currency, price and discount. After making the changes, you can click on Save changes > Save and Activate to display the funnel on your store.

Frequently Asked Questions


1) How does the app decide where the bulk discount widget will display inside the cart and how can I alter the position?


The app detects a visual element in your Shopify theme and accordingly positions it's widget. If you want to change the position of the widget, please refer to this article on how to do it. The app does not add, remove or alter any of your theme's code.


2) Why is the customer not redirected to cart after selecting the discount and clicking on Add to cart button?


If this setting is enabled, the customer will be redirected to the cart once they click on the 'Add' button inside the volume discount widget. If disabled, they will stay on the product page and will have to manually go to the cart page. If the customer is still not re-directed to cart after this setting is enabled, please contact our team via support and we'll help troubleshoot.


3) How do I make the my volume discount widget appear in a single row?


The tile display may appear to be in 2 or three rows due to the width of the tile. This can be decreased by going to Step 3 of the funnel set up > Edit display and design > Spacing > Quantity Tile > Quantity Tile Size (px) > Width > Decrease the width ( as shown below) > Save changes.
